Is there an entry fee to the festival site?
No. You can simply walk in and enjoy all the free events. We only charge for the ticketed events. You can check out which music events are free and what’s ticketed on the TIMETABLE page of this website. ALL dance displays are free.
Do I need to bring my own foldable chairs?
Not really. You may want to bring them to sit out on the grass in the open areas of our site, but all our music events (free and ticketed) are fully seated, as are all our indoor dance displays. Just occasionally there’s standing room only at the most popular events, but we’ll do our best to seat everyone.
Is there food and drink available?
Yes, lots of it! Our site has all the usual food outlets you’d expect at a festival, including vegetarian and vegan options. There’s also a National Trust cafe for light meals and snacks, plus a permanent fish and chip shop just round the corner opposite the community centre where a number of our events are held. There’s an on-site lager bar and a CAMRA real ale bar. If you want to pick something up before you arrive we’re literally three minutes by car from a huge ADSA store (for your sat-navs, the ADSA postcode is NP10 8XL)
Can I bring my dog?
Well-behaved dogs on leads are more than welcome on the open areas of our festival site, but only registered guide- and assistance-dogs are allowed into our indoor and marquee events.
Is there parking?
Yes, loads. Parking charges are set by our hosts the National Trust, and not by us - but they’re pretty reasonable. It’s £1 for one hour, £2 for four hours and £5 for all day.
Is your site wheelchair and disability friendly?
Pretty much. There are disability parking bays and the entire site is flat. The National Trust toilets on site include disability facilities. Our music and dancing venues are on the flat EXCEPT for the Morgan Room which is up a flight of stairs with no lift access. When we've finalised what's on where (which should be in the next few weeks) you can check what’s on at the Morgan Room on our TIMETABLE page. We’ve made sure that NO paid-for events are held in the Morgan Room so there’s no danger of you paying for something you can’t access.
Can I get in to Tredegar House and gardens?
Absolutely! Every ticket purchased entitles the holder to free entry to Tredegar House. That’s ANY ticket, whether it’s a full weekend ticket or an individual ticket. In fact, we’d encourage you to visit. Tredegar House is a National Trust gem and a treasure trove of delights.
I’ve bought a festival ticket, can I save my Tredegar House visit for a different date or weekend?
Sadly, no. You can visit the house and gardens only on the day for which you have a festival ticket. So, for example, if you’ve bought a ticket for our Saturday night concert, you can come early and visit the house on that day. If you’ve bought a weekend ticket you can visit the house any time (during house opening hours) on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Check out those opening times at the Tredegar House website.
How will they know I’ve bought a festival ticket and can get in to the House free?
Either show them a print-out of your ticket, or the e-ticket on your phone. Alternatively, go straight to the festival office and swap your e-ticket for a wristband, then show that at the entrance to the House and gardens.
Is there festival camping?
Yes, and it’s included in the price of a weekend ticket or just £35 for the weekend if you buy any individual ticket. It includes space either for you to pitch your tent or to park your camper van or caravan. We think you’ll agree that’s pretty cheap for three days. But just bear in mind that the site is pretty basic - simply a space for you to turn up. There are no electricity hook-ups etc. We've raised prices a bit from last year because we've listened to what campers had to say and, this year, there'll be a few more temporary loos and a waste disposal facility for camper vans. Of course, if you do have a camper van with its own power and facilities etc you’re pretty much sorted. Please bear in mind too that the tent area is separate from the camper van and caravan area (otherwise the heavier vehicles might churn up the ground).
I’d prefer a few more facilities for my stay. What’s available?
If you’d prefer an hotel or guest house there are loads around. The nearest big chain hotel is the Holiday Inn Express, Coedkernew, which is about half a mile away and just about walkable. The Premier Inn Cardiff East is about 10 mins away by car.
